Elephant Rescue

what’s happening

In 2018, Planting Peace began rescuing Asian elephants from slavery. Our first rescue was a Laotian elephant named Mae. She had just been fired from her job as a tourist riding elephant. They left her chained to a tree in the middle of the jungle, dying from hunger and thirst. Since then, we have worked hard to rescue elephants from the logging and tourist industry. Our current goal is to rescue an elephant every month.

TYPES OF ELEPHANTS WE RESCUE

Logging

Asia is home to over 10,000 elephants enslaved in the logging industry. The elephants are forced to work long hours pulling trees out of the forest. It is grueling and tiring work that causes many health issues for the elephant.

Tourism

Thousands upon thousands of elephants are enslaved in the tourist industry. Some elephants are made to give rides to tourists all day. Some are made to dance in circus-type settings. Whatever the case, please only support real sanctuaries.
(No riding whatsoever)

Planting Peace is committed to rescuing enslaved, abused, and starving elephants. Here’s a story on our work!
