About the crisis

The crisis in Yemen is the greatest humanitarian concern this world has seen in recent history. Tens of thousands of children have lost their lives to malnutrition. Millions more are currently at risk of dying from starvation. The issue began back in 2011 during the Arab spring, when power changed from one president to another creating a political struggle. The political transition was supposed to bring stability to Yemen, one of the Middle East’s poorest nations, but President Hadi struggled to deal with various problems including militant attacks, corruption, food insecurity, and continuing loyalty of many military officers to Saleh. Yemen spiraled out of control into a civil war, creating the largest famine in the world.

What Planting Peace is doing

Our highest priority at Planting Peace is children about to lose their lives to severe malnutrition. In response, Planting Peace has created a therapeutic feeding center in the capital, Sania. The primary goal of the center is to take children that are wasting away from malnutrition, children that would otherwise lose their lives without immediate intervention, and nurse them back to health by correcting the imbalances within their bodies.

A child can stay in the center until they’re medically released. Once a child is discharged from the center, Planting Peace will have follow up appointments with each child and provide nutritional assistance to make sure they don’t fall back to where they were.

What you can do

For forty dollars Planting Peace can nurse one child back to full health. Your contribution will pay for nutritional and medical support, as well as follow up care.

One dollar.

For every dollar you donate, Planting Peace can provide 5 meals to a child.
