Planting Peace Partners with The Sonder Project to Deworm One Million Children in Uganda

Planting Peace has partnered with Florida-based non-profit The Sonder Project to deworm one million children in Uganda. This innovative collaboration took place as part of Women and Children’s Health Week. Food for the Hungry supported the project, with responsibility by not only distributing the medication, but also adding one million doses, bringing the total count of children dewormed to two million.

According to Uganda’s Agriculture Ministry, 2 million children under the age of five are chronically ill. It is estimated that 50 percent of Uganda’s children are infested with intestinal worms, which eat an average of 20 to 40 percent of a child’s nutritional intake each day.
